The Braid Studio Secrets: The Ultimate Guide to Types and Lengths
Selecting a braid bumper is about more than just picking a beautiful color—it’s about finding the perfect fit for your little one’s comfort and safety. At Claudex, we want to ensure your chosen bumper looks stunning while leaving enough room for a restful sleep.
Here is everything you need to know about choosing the right type and length for your bed.
1. Choosing the Braid Type by Bed Size
Different braids have different thicknesses. To ensure the bumper doesn’t take up too much space in the crib, we recommend the following based on our collections:
For all bed sizes: The Signature 3-Strand Braid, Petite Fishtail Braid, Slimline Narrow Braid, and Solo Interlace Braid are versatile and fit perfectly in any bed, from small moses baskets to standard cribs.
For 160×80 beds and larger: We recommend The Deluxe 4-Strand Braid and The Artisan Fishtail Braid. These fuller styles look their best in more spacious beds.
The Grand Premium Braid: This luxurious collection is best suited for toddler beds starting from size 140×70.
The Heritage Double Braid: Due to its size and height, we recommend this type only for larger beds over 160×80.
Expert Tip: Always measure the height of the bed rail (from the mattress to the top bar), especially for “house beds.” This helps you choose a braid height that fits perfectly under the rail!
2. Spotlight on: The Solo Interlace Braid
The Solo Interlace Braid (Przeplataniec) is a unique option that allows you to customize the height of the protection.
Understanding Height: Each single strand has a height of approximately 6 cm.
Choosing Your Height:
- For a height of approx. 10-15 cm – add two strands to your cart,
For a height of approx. 16-20 cm – add three strands, and so on. 🙂
Important Note on Length: Please keep in mind that the Solo Interlace Braid will arrive slightly longer than the final measurement once interlaced. Therefore, it is crucial that you measure the total length of the area you want the braid to cover and order based on that sum. We ensure that the product you receive is perfectly adjusted to fit your specific measurements after it is interlaced through the bars.
3. How to Calculate the Total Length
We operate based on the perimeter of the area you want to protect. The rule is simple: order the length that matches the sum of the sides you want the braid to cover.
Example: The 120×60 Crib If you want a braid to go all the way around a standard 120×60 cm crib:
Side A (120cm) + Side B (60cm) + Side C (120cm) + Side D (60cm) = 360 cm.
You simply order a 360 cm braid.
